Longtail ferry from Krabi to Railay Beach

Getting to Railay Beach from Krabi Airport.

Requires transfer to one of 3 piers that have boats going to Railay Beach. Both Krabitown and Ao Na Mao service East Railay Beach. The longtails from Ao Nang pier go to Railay West and Tonsasi Beach.

The boats run at regular rates from 9am until 5pm. After 5pm the boats will leave but you normally have to negotiate the price of the WHOLE boat … meaning 2 people or 8 people same price … between 500baht to 1000baht. Late night departures prices depending on time, weather, and bargaining skill.

During low season when the weather is rough it is best you get a longtail boat from Ao Na Mao Pier because it’s only 15 minutes from there to Railey Beach. From Krabitown it takes about 45 minutes. And Ao Nang takes 20 minutes.

Krabi Tour taxi drivers will take you from the airport to the pier. You will pay for the longtail ferry by yourself. This way you pay the best price. If you would like Patty to arrange taxi and ferry transfer (inclusive) then her standard fee is 120 baht/ person extra added to the price of the Taxi transfer.

If you want to save money on Airport transfer to Railay Beach, then Patty recommends the Krabitown to Airport special. This is the cheapest way to Railay beach from the airport. The taxi will take you to the pier in Krabitown and you travel by boat from there. Boat service stops at 5pm from Krabi Town, so late flight arrivals are advised to stay at one of many cheaper Guesthouses in Krabitown (verses the expensive bungalows of Railay Beach). Then in the morning take the boat onto Railay Beach. You will save as much as a 1000 baht with this method.

For late flight arrivals wishing to go direct to Railay boats may be caught in Ao Nang upto 11pm. The boatmen will charge much higher rates at late hours.
